The Diamond Head Experience
Each week we depart from the Polynesian Hostel located in Waikiki. We leave early in the morning by foot to make our way to the most popular crater on Oahu.
Diamond Head is an extinct volcanic crater where you can take in amazing 360-degree views of Waikiki from its highest point which stands at 760 feet. Military history of Diamond Head dates back to the time of World War II. And the hiking trail to the top started becoming known in the early 1900’s.
Our hikes begin early before the sun comes up so that we can enjoy the cool crisp morning air and experience a beautiful Hawaiian sunrise from the top. It’s an easy to moderate hike which can be accomplished by people of all ages. The hike is also short taking approximately 3 to 3.5 hours in total.
You will enjoy a guided tour where you will learn more about the background and military history of the crater. Group pictures will be taken and made available on our website for free download.
If you’re a guest of Polynesian Hostel the Diamond Head Experience hiking tour is free and the only cost to you is the $1.00 entrance fee paid at the park as you enter. If you’re not a guest of Polynesian Hostel and would like to discuss the possibility of scheduling a special tour on a different day/time, please send me a message through my Contact Page.
